Overview

Terry L. Johnson, partner in the firm’s Business Department, is a real estate lawyer, board certified in commercial real estate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of Texas. He is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of real estate and Lawyer of the Year in 2020 in real estate for El Paso, Texas; is rated AV by Martindale Hubbell Legal Directory; and is recognized as a Fellow of the College of the State Bar of Texas. He is a member of the bar in Texas, New Mexico and Alaska (inactive).

Mr. Johnson is a graduate of New Mexico State University (B.A., 1967). During law school at George Washington University, Mr. Johnson clerked for private law firms and for the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division (1970-71). After graduation (J.D, 1971), he clerked for the New Mexico Supreme Court (1971-72), then moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he practiced law until 1982 in a general civil practice (business and litigation). During that time, in 1975-76 he spent one year in Caracas attending the Central University of Venezuela on a Rotary Foundation Graduate Fellowship. Originally from El Paso, Mr. Johnson returned to El Paso in 1982, where he has practiced real estate law for the last 37 years. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Army Reserve from 1969-75, and was honorably discharged in 1975.
