Milton C. Colia Areas of Practice Milton C. Colia is a partner in the firm's Litigation Department. Mr. Colia has over 29 years experience as a trial lawyer, primarily in the areas of insurance defense, personal injury litigation and general commercial litigation including breach of contract, deceptive trade practice, and insurance related matters, such as bad faith claims, coverage disputes, and/or misrepresentation claims made against brokers or agents. Mr. Colia has also defended manufacturers and premises owners in asbestos claims. Mr. Colia has tried over 80 jury trials, including death cases and serious injury cases, including amputations and loss of an eye, resulting from trucking and automobile accidents, defective products, and general liability situations. Mr. Colia is listed in the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Commercial Litigation and in the 2008 edition in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Personal Injury Litigation. In 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, Mr. Colia was recognized as a "Texas Super Lawyer" by the publishers of Law & Politics and Texas Monthly.In 2005 he received, from the American Board of Trial Advocates, the "William Duncan-George McAlmon Civility Award" for professionalism and civility in the practice of trial law. Professional Affiliations Mr. Colia is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In addition, he is currently serving as Vice President for Programs for the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. He has also served as an Area Director for that organization in the past. Mr. Colia is also a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the El Paso Bar Association.
