President Biden Announces Sweeping Vaccine/Testing Mandates
On September 9, 2021, President Biden announced that all employers with over 100 employees will be required to ensure that their employees are fully vaccinated or are tested weekly. The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be issuing an emergency rule to this effect. It will include a requirement that these employers must give paid time off to employees to get vaccinated. It also is reported that the covered employers will be required to cover the cost of testing but can pass that cost along to employees.
Additionally, all employees who work in hospitals, home health facilities or other Medicare and Medicaid participating facilities will be required to be vaccinated.
President Biden also has signed Executive Orders requiring all federal employees to be vaccinated, and all federal contractors to require their employees to be vaccinated.
