Isaac J. Blanco is an associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. Isaac is a native El Pasoan. He received his B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a recipient of the Undergraduate Research Grant and presented his research on the effect of anti-immigration legislation on Hispanic voter turnout as a Research Fellow.
Isaac then received his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law where he served as a Vice Chair for the Board of Barrister’s, the Curriculum Representative for his class, a Pupil for the American Inn of Court, and as a Student Mediator in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinical Program. He then became certified as a Mediator in the State of Texas and continued to mediate civil and family law disputes at the Office of Dispute Resolution during his last semester and while studying for the Texas Bar Exam.
During his career as a young labor lawyer, Isaac has second chaired a Sabine Pilot trial that reached a take nothing defense verdict and has obtained summary judgment granting outright dismissal on a workers’ compensation retaliation claim and on a national origin discrimination claim. Isaac has also second chaired an Administrative Law Judge hearing on a Surface Transportation Assistance Act retaliation claim leading to a dismissal of all claims. Isaac has also conducted numerous workplace investigations and one fatality investigation. Additionally, Isaac has successfully convinced the Department of Labor to dismiss a wage and hour investigation by challenging the department’s overtime calculations. Isaac has also cochaired a Temporary Injunction Hearing leading the court to dissolve a temporary restraining order prohibiting the employee from working during the holidays by arguing a non-compete agreement was unenforceable. Isaac represents employers in state court, federal court, arbitration, and against governmental entities such as the Department of Labor. Paso representing local municipalities and businesses.
