Isaac J. Blanco is an associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. Isaac is a native El Pasoan. He received his B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was awarded an Undergraduate Research Grant and presented his work on the effect of anti-immigration legislation on Hispanic voter turnout as a Research Fellow. Isaac then received his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law where he served as Vice Chair for the Board of Barristers, the Curriculum Representative for his class, a Pupil for the American Inn of Court, a Certified Mediator in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinical Program, and continued to mediate civil disputes through his last semester and while preparing for the Texas Bar Exam.
During his career as a labor and employment attorney, Isaac has second chaired a Sabine-Pilot jury trial that reached a take nothing defense verdict, obtained summary judgment granting outright dismissal on a workers’ compensation retaliation claim and on a national origin discrimination claim, and second-chaired an Administrative Law Judge retaliation hearing leading to dismissal of all claims. He has conducted numerous workplace investigations, including one involving a fatality, and successfully persuaded the Department of Labor to dismiss a wage-and-hour investigation by challenging its overtime calculations. He regularly handles non-compete disputes—successfully enforcing noncompete agreements on behalf of employers as well as overturning an injunction by showing a noncompete agreement was unenforceable. Isaac represents employers in state and federal court, arbitration, and before governmental entities such as the Department of Labor.
