Molly Kicklighter is a partner in the firm's Corporate and Business Department, practicing family law. Molly's practice centers on divorce, separation and custody, kinship guardianship, adult guardianship/conservatorship, children's issues, and grandparents' rights. She also represents clients accused of domestic violence in connection with a divorce proceeding, separation, or custody matter, and drafts prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. A well-rounded family law practitioner, Molly has represented clients in courts for more than twenty years in southern New Mexico and Texas. Custody cases, and cases where one party uses money as leverage — withholding support, controlling access to marital funds, or pressuring a quick settlement — are the work Molly is most invested in. She stands her ground against the push to settle prematurely, takes the time a thorough case requires, and moves to trial when that is what serves the client — with the aim, in every matter, of helping the client close one chapter well and step into a better next. Molly prefers to resolve matters at the mediation table when that path serves her client, and she is ready to litigate the case when it does not. She works with each client to identify their goals, walk them through the options, and build a strategic plan for the matter.
Molly grew up in Alamogordo and is a proud New Mexico State University Aggie, where she earned a B.A. in Government with a minor in pre-law and a Master of Public Administration, and marched drumline with the "World's Most Dangerous Band." After law school, Molly lived in several cities in the DFW-area and returned home to New Mexico in 2011 after being reminded at a high school reunion how much there is no place like home. Outside the office she enjoys meandering hikes with her dogs, learning bass guitar, and long, complicated sci fi plots.
